Wife and I are making a trip north through the Adirondacks, then over to New Hampshire to climb Mt. Washington. From there we are heading to Ogunquit Maine to go fishing (on the Bunny Clark per advice on here). Looking for things to see or do from Mt. Washington to the maine coast. Hoping I can walk after the climb. Was hurting for about a week after climbing Katahdin. Wife says we have to hit Warrens again. We stopped on the way to and coming back from Katahdin.

A mountain not to take lightly. I hope you are a seasoned climber....like done a lot of 4,000 footers.

Can be 80 degrees at the base..... then 37 degrees 1/2 way up with an 80 mph breeze. Or fog so thick..you can’t see anything

FYI - if you drink , NH is a good place to pick up cheap booze. No taxes.

I always get some on my way through.

Made Katahdin and still run the mountains of NC Pa. Washington is supossed to be easier than Katahdin. Told all the young hipsters on top that a gray bearded old man carrying an extra 40 lb pack on the front made it so it's no big deal. Coming down was the hard part on me. Knees were in rough shape. There is a shuttle down from the top of Washington so that should help. I look like every other trapper at the conventions, old, gray beard, a little belly overhang but tougher than pigs lips. How's the trout fishing around there?

Do your homework on Mt Washington....there are more NH Fish and Game rescues off that rock pile every year. A twisted ankle...and your toast. People get lost ...or just not prepared for the elements....that can change in a heart beat. It’s not ranked #1 in toughest climbs for nothing.

I like it like that,, cause the breeze keeps the mosquitos off me.

That list should specify hardest in the lower 48. Mt. Washington might have more fatalities but I don't agree it's the most difficult. Just the most accessable, dangerous mountain in the USA. Alaska is full of more difficult peaks in my opinion.

Regardless, I've been up Mt. Washington and it is nothing to sneeze at. Stay sharp up there.

Drove! Although I wish I could have hiked it. The group I was with wasn't interested in anything so strenuous.
