i feel like this should be a post for trappers to talk to each other It is. But you are asking questions that can be answered in a 10 second search of this very site. Or Google. Plus, you're ricocheting around like a pinball on speed. SLOW DOWN. READ MORE. EDUCATE YOURSELF, then you can ask informed questions. I'm GLAD to see a younger guy on here, most of us are fossils. Hate to.see you get discouraged. Just slow down a bit. PS, you really need to try decaf

No you shouldn't quit trapperman. You're obviously a kid, and you're obviously excited. But you do need to slow your roll a bit or you're going to annoy people. 29 of the first 40 posts on here are started by you. That makes it hard for anyone to find post from anyone else... you're kinda being a post hog. In the future, maybe make a post called something like "questions about trapping" and then ask all your questions on that one post.
As others have said, pretty much all of your questions are answered in the archives on here. But, I hate when people just say "check the archives" whenever anyone asks a question. If no one asked questions, this place would be pretty boring. That said some of your questions are pretty basic, and spending a couple hours reading the archives wouldn't hurt you any. After that, see what questions you still have left and condense the most important ones into one post. You have a long summer before you, ask a few questions every day instead of 80 questions in one day, lol.
But most importantly, use your summer wisely. Get out there in the woods and walk the creeks and learn all the different tracks the critters make, and then follow the tracks. You can learn more about trapping in one afternoon of following mink tracks along a creek than you can in a month on trapperman. Find all the den trees where coon live. Figure out where the coon go once they leave the den tree. That info will be invaluable to you come trapping season. Spend a lot of time fishing. You can scout for trapping at the same time and catch yourself some bait while you're at it. Make sure all your equipment is in good working order.
If at all possible, get a summer job. Whether it's mowing lawns, delivering papers, or just doing odd jobs for friends or family... try to earn some money over the summer so you can buy some baits/lures/traps whatever for before season gets here.
Proudly banned from the NTA.
Bother me tomorrow. Today I'll buy no sorrows.
