About the only side effects is groggyness . If it's the gummies I'd advise taking half of one see how that works the the next night take a full one. I generally have to take 3x what normal folks have to and it barley works for me, other people..well I will say though don't take it every night because you'll build up a dependency/ resistance. Your brain naturally produces melatonin and if you take it every night it will throw you out of wack

I take it because of my insomnia. Didn't sleep for more than 10 to 20 minutes at a time for decades. When I take the melatonin I sleep for approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours. 10 milligrams every night 1/2 hour before I go to bed. Doctor says take every night. My Doctor told me you can't get dependent on it either. After taking it for 3 or 4 years now, there were times I didn't go get more for a week or longer and the only side effect I had was going back to less sleep. It took me a month or so till its effects kicked in when I first started taking it

Yep... been taking it for about 25 years. I take between 20 and 30 mg every night. I have worked out a nightly routine... I also take .5 mg Xanax (Alprazolam), + 1 mg Prazosin, 45 mins. to 1 hour before bed. They take about 20 to 30 minutes to kick in and then I take, normally 20 mg of melatonin, which takes 20 to 30 minutes to kick in. When they kick in I start feeling very drowsy, then head up stairs to bed. Some nights the kick in harder than others and I feel almost like I am drunk, but I go right to sleep and like last night I slept 7 1/2 hours straight through.
The meds other than the melatonin are for PTSD. I have several times to get off them and I don't sleep at all.

I tried the 10 mg version twice, and while it did help me sleep, it also caused violent gastric distress for 2 to 3 weeks after both times. By violent I mean something that resemble a colonoscopy prep. Apparently that is a side affect that gets to some, but not all. I happen to be one that cant tolerate it.

I take it every night about an hour before bedtime 5 mg. Works great for me.
Wife: That's the 4th time you've gone back for dessert, doesn't that embarrass you? Me: No, I keep telling them it's for you.

I tried it for a while, didnt like it. Made you fall asleep a bit easier but not a good type of sleep. Didnt feel right taking it. Tossed it. I just stay up and sleep when I get tired regardless of clock, feel way better.
