Plenty of grey and swift fox in NM

When I was in the 7th grade I had some trapping experience. My best friend at the time was a lawyers son. I would go to school telling my friend my latest achievements on my trapline and would really get him pumped. We were making big plans to go Latin America to the jungles and trap fur. He knew a missionary from his church that said there was jungle everywhere. Must be great trapping, right? Our 7th grade teacher knew of our plans and spent 5 minutes of his time telling us we needed to go north to Canada. Then we spent our valuable time in the sports magazines trying to buy 640 acres for like $50 bucks. His dad shut us down on that.
Kids have dreams and isn't that a good thing? Now my mind goes back to that teacher that is dead and gone now and just wasted that 5 minutes minutes he gave us about our trapping adventure. I doubt he ever got that 5 minutes back, or did he? What I see with a lot of the youth today is they want the attention or the image but no go when it comes to the doing. More they talk usually less they do. Daughters boy friend dresses like a cowboy, wears a big cowboy hat but is scared to get on a horse and wont get on one even if its the gentlest old nag in the world. All goes back to participation awards and the idea everyone is a winner without accomplishing anything. A lot of young people have started on here all fired up and people give all kinds of "participation awards" then they try trapping and realize how much work it is and they can't become experts on the computer then give it up. All fuse no powder. I'm not even sure if wolfie actually traps any more. The your great no matter what you do attitude is killing the motivation and self worth of our youth

Does that mean we were all fuse and no powder or just plain worthless ?

Good thing wasn't Charlie's reaction to Bennie's dream of being a beaver trapper.
Some individuals use statistics as a drunk man uses lamp-posts — for support rather than for illumination.
