I received an email today to basically start the process of filing a claim on NAFA from my furs they had when they shut down. It says if I don’t agree to my claim amount then I can dispute it by filling out a form and sending it in. I can’t figure out what my claim amount is or where to find that information. They provide a website but so far all I am seeing is a bunch of legal proceeding documents. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks. That’s quite a list. I’m still debating on whether to dispute my claim. It’s been so long now I have forgotten what all I had up there and what I have been paid for.

Should be able to find it in your tax records if you keep them long enough.
I keep tax records for 10 years. They audit once in a while.I think its 7 years min.

I was wondering what was happening with the NAFA bankruptcy so I searched NAFA with the last year and found this one that seemed to be the most current.

Any updates on this action? I never received any form back in the early summer for the check they bounced on me. It wasn't much but it would still be nice to have. But I have little hope in ever seeing any coin from the outcome.

I once rented a trailer during college from a guy who went to the SD State pen for selling trailers he didn't own. Did any of the NAFA crew serve time for selling our fur and then using those sales to keep their drowning business afloat? I doubt it.

Funny how guys that supposedly have money (and Herman and crew probably walked with some considerable coin in their bank accounts or under the mattresses) get away and lesser connected crooks do time. What's the old saying, "money talks and ..... the rest walk."...

Is that something different than the link that "QuietButDeadly" proved above, the "Claims for less than $10K"? I looked on that list and my name is there. But I didn't get any claim form this summer (or the wife threw it away).

If you read all the monitor's reports on the Deloitte website you will see what NAFA is doing to pay off creditors.

Thanks Dirt! I put "NAFA Deloitte" in the search and got a single page that had about 50+ individual legal documents that could be clicked on (barf!), although the "Creditors under $10K" pdf is the last one listed so maybe that's a good sign. I won't hold my breath...

Well, there you go! A replacement check or some pennies on the dollar deal isn't coming my way. What a surprise. Did Herman or any of the entourage do jail time? They might have done so in South Dakota, at least lesser well connected perps selling other people's property have done so.

Well the check that bounced for me on that list is under two thousand, what really hurt was the fur that didn't sell then, but they firesaled years later. By going off averages of local auctions for similar fur I figured it was worth $12-15,000 at the time. Years later they practically gave them away and sent me a check for $1300. Pretty much a slap in the face.

I'd still like them to make good on their bounced check that they swore they would multiple times when I called them up.

You must have had a good pile of fur there to be worth 15.g
1300 is less than 10c on the dollar.Ouch.

My name was on there, pretty easy to look since it was alphabetical.

Man the writing was on the wall 6 or 7 years ago when NAFA went broke. Why I’m I in denial?

my name is on there but I had not sent them any fur. The check I got was for some old leftover junkers. With all the NAFA hands now working at FTA I am leery of sending them any either.

My name is not on that list. I read the writing on the wall and stopped shipping to NAFA a year before they went bust.

Eh...wot?
