I believe we won that war. If u don't understand the strategy of having a close base of operations in an offensive war as stated before your grasp of strategy is very weak. A base to operate missions out of and provide support out of is critical. If China is actively pursuing a base there it would be for only one reason. China wouldn't put a base their if it didn't give them advantage and they didn't provide a way to defend it and have a reasonable chance of defending it.
Look at what we are sending for weapons to the Ukraine and what they are asking for and ask yourself how much range that equipment has. Look at the missions we have ran in our most recent conflicts in other countries and see how far our missions have extended beyond our established bases.

These are things that SHOULD have been addressed.

It's many, many times easier and cheaper to keep missiles on land than a submarine. It's also many, many times easier to accurately launch missiles from the land. There's also much, much more land to put missiles on then submarines, allowing you to have many, many more missiles.

Cuba is very close to the US. Any missiles launched from there would have a very short time period where they could be shot down. They would still likely cause damage to the US when being shot down to.

I think taking Cuba, would not be a bad idea, if the American people weren't such bleeding hearts. I would blow their entire military infrastructure and military into dust in seconds, with missiles from all over the US and then put a pro American government in charge and eventually make them a territory and in years a state, after indoctrinating their people.
