I don't care.
I know several guys that averaged in the 30s put up beaver this spring. I didn't say top.

Some folks are really intimidated at the thought of putting up beaver, it’s not that bad is it? I mean, $20 ain’t bad for a beav but why? When you could’ve got 30-45 for a little bit of work. Some just don’t have the space to store the boarded beav too I suppose.

Also there is a valid argument that instead of skinning one could be trapping or resting Personally I can't remember when I last sold something that wasn't put up

For me putting up beaver is a pleasure and a relaxing activity. With sharp knives it is effortless.Handling beavers on the carcass is more work than the skinning and stretching. I would sooner put up beaver than any other similar sized animal like a lynx or coyote, coon etc. You gotta remember most people today are somewhat childlike and demand instant gratification. That is why the local buyers push the banner of "cash in hand". And those that are hard up and say they need the money right away should be looking at their overall financial situation. I couldnt imagine having to live hand to mouth with no financial cushion. That is probably a result of their me me now now constitution. Traps are still working when you are skinning.I have never had to run less traps due to handling fur.

That was a very valid argument this spring, and one I was tempted to give in to, if the carcass market hadn't declined near the end.

So how much did the carcass market decline walleye? Just curious. The beaver market still being very strong it must have been ol' Matt getting overwhelmed with beaver or the realization he could buy more than he wanted anyway for less $$$.
What's your take?

I think there is a reason some of us got off the sell to the furbuyer/Auction only train many years ago and developed other skills and ways to market furbearers that seem to be under profitable levels for decades at Auctions and furbuyers due to poor demand or cheap ranch mink.

If that is the case you didn't have enough traps in the ground.

Fur handling is really not that big of a deal when your critters are frozen when you take them out of the trap. If not, hang them outside overnight by the hind foot and they usually will be. They keep in natures freezer for a long time in the round.

All said and done, Groeny is very competitive with the auctions considering he buys in the grease.
Most here in the states don't have the luxury Boco has with long check times, so every days catch needs attended to here. Is it worth the 5 dollars more for the extra time to flesh and dry a pelt, or spend that time running a longer line?
To me, $25 for a rough skin isn’t good enough when I consider what I can really get for it. More than 5 bucks. It is an auction so it’s always a gamble, paid off for me. Temp comes into play, but I’m not crushing em in January either. It’s a different ball game in winter at -40 (C or F…same thing…lol) It’s warm in spring here too. I was pretty busy for a couple weeks and I ain’t got no room in the freezers. Like they say though, each to their own. Options are a good thing.

If that is the case you didn't have enough traps in the ground. So you run traps 24-7? 7 months a year? Tell me another one, lol. Must cost you a fortune checking a bunch of empty traps.

No.His top price was too low for me. He did get some fur though, since he did his run just before the Auction pick up.

Anybody get a check just yet? I saw checks show on the accounts now but I hadn’t seen where anyone mentioned getting theirs yet.
