I was just wondering if anyone have used shrimp traps to catch bait instead of casting nets all night long.

Used to be able to buy a minnow trap made from 1/4 inch hardware cloth. Hand full of dry dogfood for bait. Keep just below surface so if get a snake in it they get a big last drink.

We use these round shrimp pots typically around 100 fathom but I’m sure they’d work shallow just fine. We get shrimp, snails, octopus, starfish etc. the pots are round with 3 funnel entrances.
