Anyone have any info on fishing this area? My wife and kids came to relax for a week. I would like to leave them for a day and go fishing. Looked into a couple charters and most are big boats with a bunch of people on them. I don’t need someone to hold my hand, just get me in the right places. Thanks for any info.
Kyle

There are 6 pack boats out of Depoe Bay and Lincon City further south on the coast that Ive done well on.
I'm sure there are some out of Tillamook too.

There are smaller boats who charter say a half dozen people max out off Newport. Just go down to the dock in Garibaldi and ask around. Used to be a good little restaurant there on the dock.

Ended up going on the NorWester out of Giribaldi. Had a great day. The lingcod were biting like crazy. Got a limit of those along with a limit of rockfish. Captain said not to get used to fishing that good. We have been living off pan fried Ling cod in butter with lemon ever since. Very good eating.

How many people on the boat ? The captain should have said : "Our catch is good most all the time, good job and come back again." Because after all that's his job to put you on fish ! I know the limit is not high, maybe 2 ling and 5 rockfish and you were likely fishing inside rather that outside. The fish are bigger outside and can be fished only certain times of the year.

Correct on the limits of 2 and 5. Captain was a good guy. Kind of joking around but the bite was crazy. No way you could always expect that I wouldn’t think. We had ten people on the boat. I would assume we were 20 plus miles offshore. Took about 2 and a half hours of boating before we started fishing. One of the deckhands caught a monster big a lingcod. I’ve fished a ton of freshwater but very little salt water and nothing from a boat in the saltwater so I didn’t know what to expect. Great time and I thought it was very reasonably priced also. We each took home five dungenous crabs per person also.

Sounds like fun and opposite of my luck we usually get there a week after the fish were biting, wherever we take a trip to. lol

Looks like a good charter- most all people seem to be very happy with it.
