I’m not sure direct deposit is available for US shippers. I think it is a Canadian thing.

Carl - How long does it take for you to get a check from OTC??? <grin>.

Just giving you a bad time………….

Today's Canadian dollar is .75 of a US dollar. Dont know what that rate was back when your beaver sold, but today your $30 Canadian avg would be $22.50 US.

You can't argue with the Canadiens they compare gold to a tin can , as long as we are happy who cares FHA holds to much fur for the following year and don't sell it for any more because it costs money to handle and store fur from one year to the next so as I see it they are not protecting the trapper they are gambling to get more dollars in their coffers . I would like to see what the lot offers are that are not sold .

The me me now now generation, lol.

So the XXL southern beavers I sold for $38 would have sold for $58 at the FHA auction?? Give me a break......

Not to mention I would have to ship them roughly 500 miles from here to get them to a receiving agent and pay auction fees. I made more on them than I would have made sending to auction

Face the facts Boco, us southern fellows can achieve better prices than FHA by selling in the country and we don't have to sit around for months waiting on our money to arrive

The days of shipping fur are gone for us. Bounced checks from NAFA cured us of that mistake

Fur Harvesters is Canadian. The last fur auction house remaining. For the most part, they are all the Canadian trappers have left. I'd defend them too.....just like I'm defending Groenewold.

And, all of these fur buying entities are intertwined...doing business at some level together that keeps fur moving.

FUR TRAPPERS ARE ALL STANDING ON THE EDGE OF THE END OF AN ERA.

Sure, the commercial bulk fur trading market will continue for several more years, but every year that passes we lose country buyers, local auctions cease to be held, NAFA folded, fashion trends change and kills movement of certain species. There is not a lot of hope or positivity in the current worldwide fur industry...viewing it from my level.

You cant BS me we had a groney buyer here and I know what he offered and what I got at FHA.
FHA was 1/3 higher than Groeny.
How much did your small beaver sell for
I had LM sell over 30 bucks after deductions at FHA,and Groneys offer was 25 tops for a 3x so give me a break.
it cannot be otherwise when you sell to a middleman.

I'm missing the part where I said I sold to Groeny. We have options here. I'm not BS'ing anything. $38 is the price I received for XXL. $30 or $32 on the 1x

So that is 4 bucks less after deductions.
I get it that it costs you more to ship.
Good we both have options, but I can tell you the groney buyer here is going to have to do a lot better to compete with fha.

A good situation for me: OTC buyers get first crack and if their offers are not good enough the goods get up to FHA where the international buyers have a shot. Going forward I have a new issue though, my FHA agent (George Brady) passed away earlier this summer so I don't know how I'll get fur up north. Shipping beaver is never a good option anymore.

Carl - have you talked to FHA about a pickup agent in the NW? Now would be the time to start that conversation. Get things lined out well before the new season starts.

George Brady will be difficult to replace. He was all over the NW picking up fur and promoting FH. Put on a lot of miles. He will be missed.
