Just curious. How many of you place the lure up in a bush, tree etc. away from your set in the earlier part of the fur season?

I like a strong LDC on top of my post sets but I have a bad habit of modifying any post into a rub set so they get plugged up with cats.

TTT anyone else want to chime in?

An LDC built with other food / curiosity ingredients is the best choice if really needed in milder temps. It doesn't need to be harsh strong skunk. I never really use any until really cold temps blow in and if I feel it is a good choice at that location. Predators smell extremely well. It doesn't take much to grab their interest if in the mood.

I prefer to place some of my bait or lure I am using in an elevated position, the same as I am using at the set. That elevated position just a few feet above the ground really helps carry that odor in the air.

x2 I mostly use lure up high as a drawstation for snares, canines have a great nose and as long as your close to a travelway on location loud isnt really needed.

I use something like beaver castor or maybe mink gland lure up high near the set. No clue if it helps but something I’ve done for quite a while.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

If a dirt hole set, do you place it behind the set?
