2nd time selling to matt carlson in Jacobson mn. First time i averaged 24 dollars. Fall beaver and more smaller beaver. This last time I averaged just shy of 30. I got 50 for one of them. Stretched over an inch outside of the last ring on my beaver boards. Extremely happy! I learn from matt on what he is looking at and what he wants. Always feel like I'm being treated fairly. Thank you matt. See you this fall.

I sold to Matt (again) this Spring and was extremely happy as always. It is nice having a local buyer as another option.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Did you sell them to him by the pound or on the grade?

By the pound got us almost 4.00 more a beaver.

Selling on the grade sounds great but in this market the grade doesn't man anything.

It's crazy.

Depends on the size and if its a southern or Northern.
Jerry had 300 beaver all in..blankets to kits..all sections in..and he averaged 1.67 pounds per beaver..that's everything in..footballs( the ones most of yall toss.over the hill)to.supers.

The southern beaver actually brought him.more money than the northern beaver because southern beaver leather is thicker.

His buyer said he wished he had 100 Northern trappers there when he was weighting jerrys catch because he said that Northern trappers would never believe that the southern beaver weigh more and bring more.money in todays beaver market.

That's Why I keep telling yall southern boys to put your beaver up..

Boco and I just learned that southern beaver do not completely shed their underfur in summer like northern beaver do. I'm wondering now if that trait isn't related to the heavier leather of southern beaver.

I don't know why ...but I know for 1000% sure that the leather on southern beaver I's way heavierthan the leather on northern beaver.

It's very obvious when they're stretched and compared to northern beaver.

I think maybe the leather on southern beaver is heavier to help protect them from the extreme.heat of summer in the south...but I don't know that..but I DO know the leather is heavier by far on southern beaver.

I can attest to the leather thickness between Northern and southern beaver. When I trapped In Canada I was really surprised on how thin the leather was compared to SC beaver hides.

How were the Alaskan ones? I have been told they have thicker leather. Supposedly another subspecies?
