Thanks yotetrapper30. I try and check in. But, business has been a blessing lately. ( ADC ) and small handyman jobs.

The heat kicked my butt today on a horse stall job. Got to feeling sick, came home early.

We have boats like that here, big one where I'm crabbing has 3, 400 hp outboards, never saw 4 though.....

I don't know how fast you need to go, but I know that's an expensive way to do it...lol

This thing has 4 x 450 .. total overkill for a 40 foot center console. Makes ya think if they are out to go fishing or the poker run. It needs to be REALLY calm and no swell to open up the fuel taps for those engines all the way.

When I started out, the 150 HP black Max mere was considered a huge engine. These days it would just be a high output trolling motor for some ..... There is a boat around here that I have not worked on that has 5x seven marine outboards with 700 hp per engine 45 foot center console.

People who spend that kind of money have a whole different set of problem than I. It appears that the second motor didn’t escape unscathed.

We like to say "more money than brains" but who am I to suggest these people shouldn't spend their money?, lol

They must also have a lot of other hobbies, these boats hardly ever leave the dock....

8 grand for a new unit. That looks like a 51 foot intrepid. (4 motors) If it is it is 14 foot wide !!

If so 1.5 million sitting there if just a 47 foot cool million.

that boat probably weighs close to 15-20 thousand lbs. Fuel and motors include. Depending on model it hold 300 up to 500 gals of gas !! Takes a lot of horse power to push that at 70 mph

Most of their boat have a goal of 68 regardless of length . They just add motors to get there.

We were discussing boats like this the other day . No one was sure how to answer my question. We all have boats , fishing boats , runabouts, and pontoons. All of them only have one motor.
So, on these multiple , motor , boats, do you always run all of them , or if you are just putting around, do you just run one ? Are they all connected , as far as throttle ? Just curious.

You could run just one, just won't go 70 mph, lol
I've been beat up pretty good going 25/30 in a chop, can't imagine going 70 in any kind of weather, and before anyone says the boat is designed for that, I call BS.... grin

Yes the boats can do it but the backs of the crew will give out after a little while.

To answer your questions Womper ...... It depends. Running just one engine is less than efficient on these boats so usually you run them all. On some twin engine boats the engines are connected with a bar as bar as the steering goes On this particular one and a lot of others, the engines are controlled by a computer and individually adjusted fro speed, direction and steerage. You also have a joystick for docking. you can twist on that to make the boat turn on the spot. At that point a couple of the engines will run in reverse and a couple in forward and all 4 will be pointing in different directions to direct the propeller thrust in the right direction to turn the boat on its spot, go sideways or whatever you want to do. When you use the wheels to steer the boat underway, the computer will for example in a slight turn just throttle the inside engine back a little but keeping then arm straight or just move the center two in the desired direction etc. There is no direct input from the wheel to the engines. At a selected speed, the engines are also synchronized by the computer to all run at the same RPM.
