This cow gives me the fits. I think she's pregnant and then I don't. She's so big I can't tell. And she's late like usual.

When was she exposed. If she is 5-6 months pregnant you can get on the right side and just behind the ribs, and lower on the belly you can bump her to she if you can feel a calf. The calf will grow about half its size the last couple months so if she is pregnant 6 months there should be about a 30 lbs. calf in the amnionic sac.

Oh I've been Watching her bag and rear for slime since mid may

She's always latest to calve but this year's ridiculous.

I'll load her and sell her in 10 days if no bagging

With the cattle prices that might be a good idea if she is still open. Unless you need a lot of burger.

From my old days as a kid on our farm I would say no ... the bulge should be further back if the was in calf

Get a plastic glove. Lubricate the glove on your left arm. Put it up or a rear end. Palpate her feel her head or the calfs head. Should be Easy to feel the calfs head if she’s pregnant within a month or two. What Brice said works real well too if she’s close.

If she’s gentle thump her side and see if you feel a kick back. We’ve had a few cows over the years that we’d test that way. She definitely BIG.

I could make more as meat but no slots open at my butcher.

I'll come out ok if the market stays up

At the AI class our 4 h put on they went to the butcher that morning and got the reproductive tracks of cows so we could practice . One had about a 30 lb calf in it. I'm guessing the owners didn't know she was bread. That would be disappointing to fins out after tha fact.

Not her fault. She likes being the last one playing hard to get. She demands foreplay first.

We have those here as well. Always late, but, produce beautiful calves.

That's one thing I learned watching dad lose money on cattle. Costs the same to feed one that settles and one that didn't but only one of the two will make you money.

Your vet store may have urine type sample kits to test for pregnancy. That won't cost as much as a vet coming to the farm to sleeve her.

Bag look’s swollen but she is carrying a pretty good amount of cover for being pregnant.

You can take her to the auction but have the vet preg check her when you get there. Unless you are a brucellosis free state, there will always be a vet there on sale day. Knowing then, if she is bred or open you can choose to take her back home to calve out, or sell her as a bred cow. Selling a nice looking cow guaranteed to be bred and with a likely calving date brings way more money than weighing one up.
