I was diagnosed with prostate cancer a year ago. I’m 64 and it really has me nervous. My urologist told me it was told me that my type was was a very low risk cancer. He recommended active surveillance because of the complications that are possible with removing it or other treatments. My PSA went a little higher so he scheduled a MRI in August. I was lucky they caught it in the very early stage. I had no symptoms whatsoever. If any of you are at the age get a exam and have a PSA test done.

I had pretty aggressive case with positive margins two years ago at 49. Had it removed luckily without any side effects. One year later psa was creeping back up. Did 35 radiation treatments and as far as I know good now. Still no side effects got a little burnt with radiation but no big deal. Not going for anymore psa test as the next step would be hormone therapy and I won't do that,so not sure what the point of going back would be. Just remember if you do radiation first and it comes back you can't do surgery, but if you do surgery first you still have radiation if it happens to come back. I know several people that have had surgery and are doing fine. I don't know what side effects they have. Good luck I'm sure you will be fine they have come a long ways in the last few years. You are welcome to PM me if you have any specific questions.
