As we’ve fed squirrels for close to 30 years all year-round, the new mothers will bring the young to our property to “finish” them to adulthood. This is a common occurrence with the “local” females that have for generations performed the same routine with their young. We know from experience when we have a brood moved to our tall maples because there will be “end of branch cutting” all around the trees due to the young learning how to build nests in the crotches.

This is the first true albino we’ve ever had which Google says they are 1 in 100,000. The wife will soon have the little guy coming up to her for handouts! How long the squirrel will last with all the hawks we have is anyones quess because he sticks lot like a sore thumb!

My maternal grandmother used to feed the squirrels, like your wife does. She lived in Piqua, Ohio. For three years, she fed an albino squirrel, that would come scratch at her door, when hungry, or come running when she called "Cookie", which is what she named him. He would get mad if she didn't feed him quick enough. He got stuck in her neighbors garage and died.

Dayton, Ohio has a lot of albino Grey squirrels. In my old neighborhood, about 1/3rd of the squirrels were white. The kids next door to a friend of mine rescued about a 1/3rd grown, albino squirrel from a cat. My friend gave him to us. Diane fed him goats milk. We named him Whitey Ford. He grew very fast. He acted pretty nuts. Diane accidentally crushed him when he latched onto her finger, when she didn't feed him his bottle quickly enough.

Crushed him eh! I truly believe it the little devils anyway!!! How many generations we’ve “raised” I have no idea but the wife has them named and they certainly do come running when she calls their names. I built a sunflower feeder for them in the back of the yard and when the wife opens the door and calls, it’s a stampede. If it makes the wife happy-happy, I’m happy!! When people ask me ifm I’m making any money trapping I just tell them I’m trapping for peanuts and sunflower seeds!

That's a pretty neat looking squirrel you got there Seldom. I'll bet the squirrel decoys on the deck, help bring them in too!

About 20 miles south of me there is a town (Brevard NC), that has so many white squirrels, they have an annual white squirrel festival. Their squirrels have black eyes however. I have seen one in my community.

Had one in the woods a couple of years ago, pink eyes and all. Managed to get a few pics but never saw it again after that. It was coming out into a cut wheat field to feed and the local hawks probably got it.

I don't know how long a squirrel lives, but we had one up at the lake for about 3 years in a row. After that it was never seen again.
Those are really neat photos.

More and more when I go anywhere I find myself keeping track of where the nearest rest room is.

About a dozen years ago there was one at the local park. I watched it the entire time of my son's soccer game. A few days later, I saw it flattened at the intersection of the park entrance.
