The FRS (Forward repair system pronounced "fresh") was probably one of my favorite things to have around in our forward support company. Basically their mobile shops that can be picked up ,dropped off and moved around with he use of one of our PLS cargo trucks. From the time we get to a location to having it full up and running was usually less then 5-10min depending on the ground. Things had everything from basic hand tools all the way up to its own generator, crane , out rider, air compressor, oxy acetylene rig and more. Used them for everything from basic repairs on buildings to tire shops ,track work and the list goes on. We always talked about how much a guy could possibly make if they had one of these rigs on the civilian side. What y'all think ? Recon a guy could make something with one of these ? wink

this seems to be more the civilian version of it

https://www.alltrucksusa.com/inventory/vehicle/D95595

because your going to the work so often and not the work coming to you

if the work comes to you then it tends to be a enclosed building to get out of the weather

Take a big investmenr for the equipment then thr part that eats you up. Insurance cost is ridiculous.

it will depend more on how good you are what you command for price , how good your billing person is be that you or your wife ect.. to collect all that
and how many hours you will work

than the tools

have a friend who does well in HVAC , he is the guy who will repair something and not just tell you, that you need a new furnace $$$$
he is the reason I can still run a 1964 Wisconsin burners oil furnace
that and I only need it a few hours a cold day as I mostly burn wood.

he is a short guy like you and I kid you not he comes in with a step stool tool box because he needs about 10 tools to fix 70% of the stuff on a furnace. he diagnoses the issue and if he needs other things heads back to the van to get the specialty tools but mostly parts

The bread and butter of semi road service is tires. Where it gets cold its gelled fuel or froze filters. Serpentine belts are another common job. Starters, batteries alternators hoses are pretty common too. I know a couple different guys who do ok for themselves at it. D.O.T. nonsense is a bigger hurdle than anything else.

It's only as good as the number of 10mm sockets it has...Nice rig, I would love to see one in person! Lots of capability in one package.

you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!
