My old 424 has been siting about a month waiting on me to get one of the front tires solid filled. Got it done and on and started it up. It was running rough and putting out some black smoke. Figured I only have a litle to do so will check it out more later.( I had checked the oil allready) so I started driving to the main garden. It was having trouble pulling itself up the hills had to down shift. I parked it back in the barn.

Also yesterday on my way to drop the boys off At youth group my ten year old pointed out the truck was running warm. When I checked it out it took a gallon of coolant. Wonder where that went? It's also got a tire going low and heading to the tire shop for that today.

I was very close to going to the Kubota dealer and buying a new tractor but now with the added questionable reliability of the truck I better wait.

Seems like it's always something or several going to pop up when your doing great and on track to reroute you.

Fuel issue with the tractor. Bad fuel and/or injector issue.

Could be heater core with the truck.

Also check truck oil...if milky = bad = head gasket.

Friday before the 4th, employees left the key on in one truck, dead battery. Other truck had fuel light on, ran out of diesel on the way to the station and wouldn't restart. 3rd truck is in the shop so I had to buy another truck Monday to get through the week of work, check engine light came on on the way home and something is squeaking under the hood.

Point being, buying something isn't guaranteed to solve your issues. Hope it's a simple fix, white smoke is coolant burning, black is to much fuel.

13 year old cam in and let me know truck tire is flat now. At least that's simply bringing the small compresser down from the barn to air it up then drive to the tire shop for the road hazard . I it will hold air. If not it still simple to grab the jack and cordless impact( I love that thing)

The oil does not have a milk shake. But could be a head gasket and blowing it down the tail pipe.
Its got a jasper rebuilt with less than 50k miles on it and I had them replace about everything they took off when they swapped the motor.

It's dangerous for my budget today. The tire shop is across the parking lot from the kobota dealer. Hopefully they won't have what I need/want in-stock at the tractor dealership.

Carb rebuild kit or even a new carb is a little less speedy than a new tractor.

If tractor been sitting awhile would check air cleaner for mouse activity. They can plug you off fast.

Yes it's a 424 carbed gas motor.
I called new carb is $350. This one had been rebuilt 3 times I have done. Last time there was the last time for this on this one.

I guess I will pull the carb drain the fuel change the in line filter I put on it and drive up to the shop an hour away and buy a new carb and hope. It fixes it. I hate to wast time and money if it doesn't fix it.

It won't be today still waiting on the tire shop to fix my flat. Then I have to go by the hay guys place and get a few bails to last until he gets time and good weather to deliver our order.

I also went to the kobota dealer. Mx 6000 with loader is $41k. At 0% for 5 years. I like the tractor but don't want the payments.

If it's not something obvious on existing carb/choke/iair nlet, you may want to.take a chance on a Amazon Chinesium carb.
I have had crazy good luck with them, usually $15-50.

If the dealership has what you want and it's in stock, that is surly a sign! whistle

A sign of debt for 5 years is not always a good sign.

Probably too new to have a glass bowl but if it does: Take the bowl off, attach 2 foot of airline, blow like a clown at the circus while cracking the valve and see if you can knock some sediment loose from the inlet. Worked on my grandpa's old D17 when it had similar symptoms.

Very true. Especially since I'm on an 18 month plan to be debt free and have a happy padded bank account.

Now when the rental house is paid off it will pay the tractor payment. Also it's a tax deduction for 5 years and the amount of time savings when your very limited on time is hard to calculate. I'm not one for spending cash unnecessarily or have my head turned by shiny things. Why I'm driving a 2wd 97 Ford ranger and not a fancy new 4wd quad cab 1 ton. But that would be deductible also.

It has to make $ince before I lay down the cash. Will it save me money and or make me money? If not hard pass.

But often over looked is time saved. Time is money but hard ro calculate sometimes.

If it’s been sitting and ran fine before, no power and smoking on a gas could mean air flow because it’s loading up, one other thing is your float maybe stuck down and you’re flooding the carb, easy way to tell is take the inlet pipe off the carburetor and see if it clears up also if the float is down the gas will run out the front of the carb.
