Seems like very little play on here from Labrador (they probably want to keep it quiet about good fur they have ).Please report in as we need new adventures down here to ward of topics such as hair spray ,mouth wash ,and aftershave stinkum .

Yes we on here but scarce us lol. Ditto ditto what others do across most of the north. Only difference here is a lot of are northern coastal people too. Work inland and on the coast. Coast lots of salmon, seals, char, sea run trout and codfish. Some people get porpoises and dolphins too. Probably a lot of similar to north coastal Alaska and coastal North West Territories. Marten our best fur with a high per cent of 2X x dark. No wolverines as they became extinct about 100 years east of Hudson Bay. Hear wolverine are coming back to NW Ontario so hopefully they can get past Boco's traps and round the head of James Bay and repopulate the Ungava/Labrador country again.

28,000 people in 112,000 sq miles. What is known as the Lower Quebec North Shore is very similar. Very knowledgeable guy on Canadian forum from there. Our north coast very similar to Ungava Bay.

Sorry can not figure the IT to post pic's.

Out to our nets last evening and 6 salmon in the 9 - 13 lb. range but 0 this AM. The runs come and go but not super plentiful like Alaska salmon as we have only one species and they have 5 species. We get plenty thought for what people need along with the other fish. Run our nets twice a day early AM and evening til late August. Vacuum pack fresh and also smoke fish. Eat lots fresh of course. Back in the day salmon, trout and char were put in pickle for over winter. Dried fish too and that still a big deal like you see in the pics with slashed fillets draped over poles to dry. Like candy that stuff and goes fast same as dry caribou and moose meat.

Things changing fast here like everywhere else and old knowledge getting scarce.

Someone posted some short easy steps on posting pics, I didn’t know how easy it is on the tablet I use.
As the wolverines start spreading, I suppose if a trapper does get one they’d hand it in to a CO and probably be issued a permit to keep it. The grizzlies are slowly coming too.

Yes and yes but the barren caribou naturally declined due to depleting their range after they over populated. They are producing lots of calves again now and trying to come back now but some people won't give them a break. Very political. The southern woodland caribou same thing except they did not over populate. They are just being hit too hard by people who will not give them a break. Bow and arrows have been replaced with a lot of money and modern technology and the caribou can not match it.

Unlike a lot of other places habitat is not an issue with caribou. Habitat is easily over 90% like it was back in the day.

Moose too started to move into here in the 1950's and have spread everywhere there are trees so about 80% of the country. Numbers are low most places because this place is mostly caribou country with not a lot of hardwoods for moose feed. Some over hunting too but government has been slow to reduce licences. Not valued so much as the traditional caribou and so kill outside licences not a lot.

Lot of people, especially on the coast, smoke fish. Preferred wood is actually blackberry bush sod. Book name for blackberry is crowberry. It grows in more barren areas. Can't get enough of that stuff when smoked with blackberry bush.

A lot of people don't know why smoking evolved back in the day somewhere on the planet. That smoked stuff tastes good is secondary. The smoke was originally to keep the flies away until the fish or meat dried enough to keep long term.

Can tell u more about the people. Labrador West, away from the coast, is mostly big iron ore mines and big hydro electric production too. About 12,000 people over that way. The coast has another 8,000 spread along a over 1000 miles of coast line. The fishery and, originally the Inuit people, live there. Destruction of the seal skin market (there are over 8 million harp seals + other types passing the coast every year) has really hurt people especially the further north you go. Naturally less other species to fish as you go north and so the impact of the loss of the seal market has been particularly devastating especially on the Inuit. Odd thing is the antis are the ones with the blood on their hands. Lot of suicide the further north you go the same as in many other Inuit areas of the world. They destroyed "an important purpose" part of people's lives.

Innu people you mention are inland people that traditionally summered on the coast. Central Labrador has about 10,000 people at the end of a 120 mile bay in from the salt water. Traditional people always lived there but WWII saw the Goose Bay air base built and still working for NATO purposes.
