My Colorado with 282,000. Always been good truck. Bought it new . Pickup price market with inflation is crazy . I spent 6000 grand at least in it in last 3 yrs with stuff wear out but took care it . Had 3 bad starts in last week. A week ago sun. Gas up full hot weather . Start an crank 5 seconds an rough idle . Erratic run. Shake. Maybe sputter. Can't rember . 30 sec later. Normal. Drove home . Shut off start 5 min later. Normal . So check engine lite come on 2 days later . Unrelated problem as been on an off occasionally for over yr . Had check free code scan part store . Low efficiency cat . Nothing new . 3 converter manifold assembly's . They crack on that motor an last one 2.5 yrs old . An code for fuel level float sensor . Had fuel pump in new 5 yrs ago an sensor for fuel ga. Out for 3 yrs. No code for nothing else effect driveability . So normal run until yesterday . Cold start after 20 hrs be off. Bad start . But start right away with no crank but rough idle 30 sec. Then normal with 6 more starts an after gas up an let sit 15-20 min between starts . Cold start today was normal then gas up again an gas can lawnmower . Start 5 min later an very rough worst start with shaking motor . Erratic idle an crank 5-6 sec like not enough fuel or possibly flooded ? Then went home an start 4 min later an drive all normal start an run . I think fuel system problem not oil pump as oil lite not on . But fuel pump or pressure regulater ? Or what else .on other site a guy work gm garage for yrs say sound like internal leak in regulater an dump raw fuel manifold on warm engine start . I not sure if not get enough gas or to.much or what

If you can find the regulator, pull off the vacuum line. If you smell gas or gas drips out of the vacuum line, the regulator is bad.
I've missed the vechile questions.

I was just gonna Google where regulater is. I was told we're is by someone but I am not real smart on this an still.nrdd look online . Wonder how easy it is to put in fuel pressure regulater or get at it . I rember when had fuel pump put in a GM factory pump . They had problems with plastic fuel.lines with connecters . I just had new alternator an drive belt in last winter an new muffler last fall. Plugs. An new tires on it plus wheel hub assembly . Lots other components replaced in 3 yrs . I wonder if start bad like that if could mess up motor with missfire?

Sounds like the 4.3 Chevy s-10 I had, it was fuel injector or injectors.
Old school mechanic told me put 2 can's of Sea Foam in it.
And drive it, slow an idle it some and then drive it hard on interstate. I thought yeah right, but it came out of it.
Best $20.00 I ever spent on it.
Let me sugar coat this

I just hope don't cause engine missfire before shop. Not a bad truck really compared used stuff in market u can buy . I at family picnic . Quite rare . So long not see relatives get there, say . U still got that junk pickup yet . After that. I thought . I really don't care if see them again . I don't think Colorado's are junk. All models have good points an bad . Gm is cheaper an for parts then other makes . I told likely fuel regulater. Watch u tube vid. Be it only auto o got an not want stranded . With that job. Probly the shop unfortunately . U got bleed out system an I could see have trouble with no experience install regulater. Right beside motor in side close driver front look like . I change oil an air filter. Rotate tires myself. Put bulbs in but that about it other paint an undercoat an stuff . No tools or know how

The best way to learn is by doing it. I was raised by a single mom that a hair dresser. So had zero experience fixing or figuring out what's wrong with things. But when I was young and broke I priced parts vs having a shop do the job. Doing the simple things saved a ton of money and I learned a lot. Shop labor prices pay for a lot of tools.
Seems like you missed the suggestion to run a few bottles of sea foam through it.

Can't help you with your question but you got some great advice to try. Sea Foam or injector clearer really does wonders.
I have a Colorado that has 190K gets used hard on rough country and does a lot of work around the ranch. The only thing we had to do with it is seals on the front and a new u-joint. It has been a great truck for us.

Mine was a coil pack. Thought I got bad gas because it started right after I filled tank. WAS NOT SHOWING A CODE which made it that much more difficult to diagnose Good luck BTW, my 99 Tacoma has 326, xxx and I have no plans to buy a new one anytime soon. I can work on it and I am not making a house payment on a vehicle

the 2004-21012 Colorado's had a horrible flange design on the gas tank, where the fuel pump attaches , they hold water and crud , then rot out and dump that crud and water in the tank as
metal flange in a depression on a plastic gas tank
there is a repair kit that you seal and screw in place
this may be your issue , may not
remember a new used truck is still likely 350 a month in payments ,but you are about to hit a bunch of issues at 300K on that Colorado
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
