I'm following this. I started looking at forks for my Kubota L35 about a year ago. I still haven't bought any. My big hangup with the clamp-on tubular designs is the thickness or height of the forks. Most are 2" or more.
My main use for them would be moving live edge slabs around; from the trailer to where they get stickered to dry and from the stickered piles to the shop after they are dried. My stickers are 1.5 inches thick so the tubular style forks would be of little use to me.
The solid, tow-motor style forks taper to pretty thin but I haven't found them in a clamp-on.
Eh...wot?

I just took another look around the internet midlander and there actually are a variety of the solid, tapered type forks available. They are about twice the cost and up of the tubular design. That must have been what stopped me from buying them last time I was looking. LOL

I have two sets: 42” and 48”. Much prefer the 48” set. I wouldn’t want anything longer though. I also have two different frames. One lets me see where the fork ends are much easier than the other one does. If would suggest putting the frame on your loader before buying if possible. Your seat height, loaded arm length, and frame design all affect how well you can see where the fork ends are when you’re trying to slide them under the load. If you have to raise yourself off the seat to see where the forks ends are, and your tractor seat sensor wants to kill the motor you’ll be very frustrated. Just me opinion based on experiences with different frames. Good points...

It may depend how big the tractor is. Some people might like 60" forks . 48" forks came with the farm so that's what I use.

Readying myself to purchase some pallet forks for my compact tractor. Appears to be a hundred different brands out there. Ive been eyeballing some 4000lb capacity forks from Titan manufacturing...debating on 48 or 60 inch forks. Whos got forks on there tractor and what brand did you go with..? How many horsepower does your tractor have? Sorry my curiosity is killing me.

The 60” forks get in your way, more than the times than you would need them. Also make sure you don’t get the ones that hinge on top. Get the ones that are fixed an adjustable X2. For the rare occasion when you might want forks longer you can usually use a little ingenuity to make it work. Most people would spend a lot of time cussing at 60 inch forks because they are just to long for most applications.

On my 570 JCB's I literaly wear out forks Cost of business. We store all our timber stock on asphalt. One thing for sure is you will start storing everything on pallets. I fill IBC cages with firewood, conveyor belts....Everything that used to be manhandled will now be forked!! Put a hole in one fork end for a pin, hitch ball, clevis ect...
you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

the forks sure are handy for skinning cows
there is a hole in the end of one of the forks on the skid steer , perfect to drop a pin through and put the chain on to hold the gambrel , the best is when you get someone to sit in the cab and keep raising it up every time you point up
spoiled I know
at the farm I would say bail forks , just because feeding so often , followed by pallet forks for fire wood feed minerals on pallets , and a variety of bins , loading wood
the bucket is used least , mostly when cleaning out the hog barn
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
