Cut grass 10 days ago an ground nest an 1 bee sting. Itching days. Yesterday same spot an on above ankles both legs. Must been multiple times small but yellow bee. Red welts, swelling . Intense itching . Wash soap water an lotion. When to go to docter ? Feel hot touch. Lite headache . All this stuff an pickup trouble all comes at great time an great time month is not . Woke up after not lot sleep itching . Lot big red spots , skin for inches in bunch spots feel like leather an rough . Try not itch but when asleep

You have my sympathy, Dave. I swell up when I get stung too.

Have you tried Benadryl? I am allergic so I try to avoid them. I would suggest spraying that ground nest one evening before you mow again. I found one this afternoon about 20 feet up in a leaning Popple Tree I was going to cut. They got the juice already and I will cut it tomorrow.
Some people claim that a paste made out of meat tenderizer takes the itch out too.

I would go to the doctor if not better tomorrow. I have noticed that as I get older , bee stings affect me worse than they used to.

They make a pen for that just dab it on. Main ingredient smells like ammonia. Benedryl also makes one as well. Get ours from Dollar general usually. If gets hard to breath get to the emergency room immediately.

They kick my butt as well. Don't wait to get to a doctor with those signs.

I got stung several times to day By hornet looking thing. Trying to set 2 traps. Felt like = Was breathing threw a straw. Couldn’t get no air for a min. Rest of day ? I would stop. Walk some dry creek washes. Then get a bad headache. Hard to keep working. Took some benadrill. Feel better now. Drinking Bourbon now

Don't mess around. Bee stings can be fatal.

I found some ground bees today as well. Got sting on the wrist and swelled up and had to take my watch off.
Put some Baking soda paste on it. It takes the poison out. Swelling went down after 3 hours. Still sore but redness and swelling is gone. I feel your pain.

Sounds like yellow jackets. I would gas the hole well. Benadryl is good to slow the reaction. You can get a septic infection from stings especially when the stinger pushes bacteria on your skin inside your body. For that you will need antibiotics. If more than 3 days and it's geting worse I would go see a dr.

Sounds like yellow jackets…mean little critters. My sons been stung so many times the Doc said if he gets hit anymore he’ll have to carry an Epi-Pen. Apparently you don’t build up tolerances to stings.

thats how late summer yellowjackets are, gas works well on ground nests

I wouldn't recommend Dave use gas. It's pretty close to his house - we don't need Dave burning his house down.

I did build a tolerance at least on homey be stings. I use to swell up in the area with every stng. Now wel I got 17 stings on my left hand 3 weeks back and it barely swelled at all. Before one sting would have had my hand loking like a boxing glove. But keeping bees I do get stung frequently. It's nice they have become a minor inconvenience vs swelling up for a few days with every sting..

Yellow jackets itch for a week. Honey bees don't ( usually). Ground bees are almost always going to be yellowjackets. Worse than honey bees.

I've been stung hundreds of times, if not thousands of times. Just the way it is.

Benedryl just knocks me out into a drooling fool. I guess you can't feel the itching when your unconscious, though.

There are two things that can relieve the itching (at this point). Hot water as hot as you can stand it (turn your water heater up). This kills the itching for about 4 hrs...rinse and repeat. and medically Zyrtec ( generic name: Centrizine).

Centrizine is an anti histamines as sometimes you're body produces extra histamines when something foreign like venom comes into your body. This causes itching. No side effects to centrizine and available at Wally world, etc. over the counter. This is what the doc will likely prescribe anyhow.

No sense in going to the doc unless you have trouble breathing. Then go...and fast, but you're past that point by now.
