Moved to a new place and still figuring out where to put everything. I have a garage full of stuff. I also have a decent sized wooden shed in that back with two swinging doors made out of plywood. I have a bunch of skinned fur in the freezer that I need to put up. My thoughts are doing the fleshing and boarding in the garage a then put them in the shed to dry.

I'm back in the woods a bit and do have some black bears around. They hit my garbage cans every so often. Do I need to worry about the drying hides in the shed attracting them?

Could put an electric fence around it like the bee keepers do. Thay seem to do a good job and aren't too expensive.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Go ahead and dry them, then when dry in a couple days put the dried skins back in the freezer until ready to tan or market.
This will also protect the dried skins from the smaller vermin like beetles, moths and mice which will destroy them if left out in the off season.

Do what Boco said. If not the critters and bugs are going to destroy them.

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

I only need to have them in the wood shed during the drying process. I have coon, beaver, otter and rats. They just take up space I don't have in the garage to dry properly. Once dried they will be stored properly.

Thanx for the replies!!!!
