I have a 1st World Problem.

In 2017, I revamped my lake cabin (4 buildings in total) with Diamond-Kote LP Smartside Cedar color, at the same time I resided a detached garage and small cabin also on the site. At the time -I did not reside my fur shed because I was planning on expanding it for boat storage, later deciding to build a 40 x60 on my deer hunting property for storage.

Needless to say, they discontinued the color, I have left over siding but not enough to do the 24 x 24 fur shed. I was hoping to have the same look for continuity on all buildings (and more importantly my wife was). I tried to have them make a special run which they do on solid colors but will not do on blended colors, because of the blend color (the siding is several colors), matching with paint is also out.
I’m looking for suggestions and thoughts-

1) I may have enough left-over siding to do a wainscotting and something different above
2) I could go with the new color but it will be intuitively obvious and stand out.
3) Could go steel siding?
My motto is… if you can’t fix it – feature it. But not coming up with any great solutions thus far.

Built my detached garage 12 years after the house so had the same issue. Ended up going with a color that was closest to what was on the house, only difference is the grain pattern but you cant see both that close up at the same time unless you're wall-eyed .

Can you find a place that would match the color in a good acrylic paint? Sherwin Williams maybe? Use the original on the walls facing everything else and paint the rest.

You could use the remaining original as accents, above and below windows with vertical breaks on each side. Use new color that compliments it on the remaining.

Here's the color matching dilemma- I could possibly match both colors with a gel stain and wipe off the other color after? Placing the leftover siding on the front.

If you didn’t have bad luck you’d have no luck

rough cut board and batten the bottom 3 feet. Give it an oil finish.
And use starter strip to start the siding, not j-channel.

So far... my wife said you guys are doing better on ideas than I did on the ride home

You could also get the rough cut to look close to the siding color
Wax the high grain then stain the board.
And then a flat marine grade poly

Take a ride to the surrounding lumber yards and look for old stock or damaged bundles.

Seems simple enough, just re-side all the buildings and house with a new color that is available. I'm sure your wife can pick out another one she likes.

put odd color in the back . I had same problem when I built on my Building with vinyl

This is exactly why most siding companies discontinue colors after a few years in hopes you decide to keep your dignity and the wife happy.
