I guessing that the cabbage will have to be cut up or shredded while it is green then smoked? I suppose it would taste pretty good in a slaw. maybe fried? If the cabbage was boiled after smoking it you would loose a lot of the smoke flavor. Sounds good. lots of possibilities.

I never even knew I liked cabbage ,until the wife planted it a couple years ago, and the first thing we tried was ,smoking it. Loved it. Now we try to grow a few every year and have tried it many different ways.
The wife's cabbage soup is my favorite ( probably because of the sausage haha), but smoked is a close second.

Thank you. What do you use for seasonings?

SPOG, which is just my mixture of Salt,Pepper,Onion powder and,Garlic powder.
or whatever happens to be my favorite rub from the store that particular day. ( which right now is Rudy's rub)
Seasoning and Lot's of butter crammed in the hole where the core used to be. wrap in foil, kind of bunched around the bottom, so it doesn't tip over. put it in with whatever your smoking or grilling.
I leave the top of the foil open,as I don't mind a little char around the outside. I know some people completely wrap them up.
Let them go until they are at your desired tenderness. Anywhere from an hour if you're running hot , to a couple or more if you're low and slow.

dang it, now I want a smoked cabbage, but the wife just told me we don't have any more ready yet.

I would think if you wrapped it in foil you would HAVE TO leave the top open or it wouldn't get smoked. Otherwise it would just be cooked

I have tried it and like it

I put it in a foil pan, cut the core out, filled with butter and seasoning and let it smoke until it was tender

It sounds good but the only way i know how to cook cabbage is in a big pot of corned beef, ham hocks, or left over sausages.

I'd try it like that. As long as I had access to salt, pepper, and butter I am sure I'd make a clean plate or 2.
