Looks like it's been covered. I can't buy a handgun from a ffl in another state unless they ship ti to a ffl in my state and I pick it up there. Long guns well I have bought long guns in KY, TN FL. But when I tried in MO they said since I didn't live in a state that borders MO they had to ship it to a dealer in IN where I live. Having bout long gone states away from dealer I knew that was bs and didn't buy. Looking back I should have had that old rifle shipped.

As far as omg better go through a dealer and ask if the government approves. Well that's up to you. The undivided didn't ask where you live or for ID so where is the problem. Think it's an undercover sting, stolen, or omg used in a crime (how would that be determined give me a break) well that's up to you

your LEO has to update it every 6 months to keep it on the list , I would guess less than 1% do because it requires them to track you down , verify it is still gone and the details and sign again.

you keeping the police report your gun was stolen is your CYA

you can always get a bill of sale and snap a picture of the persons drivers license when you exchange money for goods

did this when I bought the last car , guy was selling it for his in-laws came with a signed with the proper name title but it didn't match his name.
deal went down in a wally world parking lot
it registered fine
about to pay the registration for the 2nd year

I said this in my post "OFFICIAL ID" . . . as long as it is not a "restricted firearm" and against State / Fed Law. :-)

I believe what they they are saying is prior to an arbitrary date with basically illegal legislation passed in the middle of the night

a gun was just a tool , you bought it just like a shovel or axe

Back in the day, no problem, but in today's World, I'm not taking any chances :-)

no confusion the ATF says across state lines use a dealer , they want records

but you do you , the ATF also said a piece of plastic was not a stock or a Machine gun for a decade then changed their minds and made you all felons if you didn't destroy the piece of plastic they said repeatedly in writing was just fine.

just like no one can really take prohibition seriously in 1921 when the cops and politicians are drinking still
doesn't mean they won't put you in prison , poison you , kill your dog , shoot your wife , take everything you own.

it just means only the punishment is to be taken seriously , they are a bunch of @#$%^&*()_

Are purchasing the pistol in person or having it sent to you? If in person then it is up to the laws in the state of the seller. If you are having it sent to you then that must be shipped to an FFL. The FFL does the background check and transfer.
Gunbroker has lots of info on buying firearms.

If you are buying from a private individual gat a bill of sale and buy it. Take it home and file the Bill of sale. I buy guns in Ohio all the time from private individuals. Believe me I buy a lot of guns. My Quackenbushes were BOTH bought out of state!! Don't worry about it!!!

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.
