Retriever brand from TC. Around $27 a bag now. Used to be 55lbs, but I believe they dropped it to 52 or 50. Our dogs eat it or go hungry.

That's interesting Keith, never thought about it from that angle. It would be some work, but hey it is man's best friend after all... I feed Purina to my short-haired and it is kinda pricey.
Anybody remember several years back when a bunch of dogs died from dogfood? And if memory serves I believe it came from china. I rember talking about shooting a couple deer and grinding them for dogwood to avoid any chance of something happening. To many deer on our place anyways. Never ended up doing it though. I also wondered about grinding up some of them Asian carp too. I think them natives in Alaska feed them sled dogs fish. Just an idea I had, I'm usually not short of ideas but most times I'm told they're not good ideas....lol.
The Chinese were adding melamine to the feed. It causes the test to give an artificially high protein content. Melamine is the laminated hard shell on put on shelving.

I have hauled a lot of commobities into dog feed plants. Meat and bone meal meal from beef processors, chicken meal, chicken by products meal, feather meal, blood meal, rice and corn. I dont know about rice but coyotes sure eat a lot of corn. From all the plants I have been to every purina plant was clean. They test every load before you can unload. Its not terribly high and my dogs have always had plenty of energy and been healthy eating it.

FWIW IAMS in NE is real clean and real picky too. They buy the same stuff Purina does.

The beaver or the Rage? Lol Yea we save the backstrap off several beaver a year. Really not a bad way to cook it. But we can’t eat it all lol. The K9 Rage…… nope, haven’t tried it lol. I’m feeding 5 beagles and 2 labs right now. I judge the quality of the dog food on condition of the dog, the quality of their coat, and how much and the consistency of what comes out the south end. 3 of us buy K9 Rage a ton (40 bags) at a time. I’m getting 25 bags tomorrow. $18.50 per 50lbs. It’s quality stuff. No corn. Omega 3 and 6. It’s still not as good as beaver lol.

We get Pure Balance from Walmart. It's $42.00 for 30 lbs. The ingredients compare favorably with more expensive brands.

And it's much better for the dogs. Raw meat. You can buy chickens, ducks and turkeys for much, much less a pound. You can get 10,000 spent layers, weighing on average 4.68 pounds each, for $2500.00. You can get beef, goat, sheep and rabbit for cheaper too. It's work, but much cheaper to make your own food.

Fromm dog food here....$57 for 30 lbs, but don't need a lot of it That's one thing lots of people don't get. GOOD $$$ dogwood really doest cost more. Dogs eat 2x as much cheap food (and crap) way more.
