They made a movie about that-Zombeaver.
Chewed up a bunch of half nekked school girls.

"The two wardens looked around and didn't see a lodge, so they assumed the beaver had rabies.". BwaaaHaaaaHaaaa. Any experts on T-man have any comments on that little bit of brilliance?

I am sure it was a Canadian Blockbuster.

I have nothing clever to put here.

That’s a stretch for sure. No lodges = Rabies ?

Maybe he was associating no lodge nearby meaning the beaver wasn't being defensive. But, I've never seen one defensive around a lodge.

Oh yeah I could see that.
If they ever remake The Big Lebowski I am sure he would get the call. He was born to be "The Dude"!

I made a beaver mad enough to take me one time, and that was enough! But have never heard of a beav that was actually rabid. I bet if they attack, they are automatically judged as rabid!

There’s a good article about a “tame” beaver in one of the trapping mags I just received. Never thought of a beaver as pet, but eventually when a wild animal grows, so does their longing for nature.

I believe any mammal can contract rabies.

Had a good friend who went for a paddle in the canoe with his wife on the lake they live on. They had two dogs, yellow and black lab. The black let them get several hundred yards away and jumped in to swim after them. Buddy saw the dog jump in, and they turned around, but within seconds the dog started yelping and was attacked by beavers. He was never sure exactly how many but he saw two. The yellow lab heard the black yelping and got excited and jumped in also. By the time they got there both dogs were dead and the beavers were were patrolling the area.
I asked him what he did, and he said he took the dogs home, after fishing one off the bottom because it sank, and buried them. His wife was a real mess over it and his kids weren’t too happy either. He then went and sighted in one of his rifles (he told me what caliber but I don’t remember, seems like it was a 22-250), and put up a deer stand at the lake edge and spent a week or a month (again, can’t remember details) shooting beavers at dusk and by moonlight till there were no more in that part of the lake.
I don’t know about being rabid, but those beavers did not tolerate dogs in the water apparently. And after that my buddy Brian did not tolerate beavers alive in his lake.

Dogs and beaver don't mix. I recall one black and tan hound that caught one on the bank one night. It was a fair fight until the beaver got to the water.

I've found nutria to be far more aggressive than beaver. Been chased more times than I can count...and they weren't rabid.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Beaver aren't aggressive but don't corner one and don't try to take one out of snare alive. Not that I would know, lol.
