I've always heard the conspiracy they are controlling the weather. I've always said I wouldn't be surprised. I was scrolling through tiktok and a video of an airplane with the company name Weather Modification International came up. So I dug further and went down a rabbit hole lol. There's a council for weather modification too. This company below states they work with private, state and federal clients as well as work in various counties. The can seed the clouds in three air with a plane or on the ground with flares and other devices. Apparently they've been doing this since the 70's. Makes me wonder about a lot, the impacts on wildlife and people especially.
LOL, think.i read about cloud seeding with silver nitrate crystals in a Encyclopedia Brown book 50+ years ago
I think you are thinking of "Danny Dunn and the Weather Machine". I read both series around 50 years ago. As a kid, i had good eidetic memory when reading.

We had some farmers in our county and a neighboring county pay for some cloud seeding during the drought in 1988 here. Very poor outcome. One of the things that was not thought about much then was when you make rain from high clouds during warm low humidity type weather a lot of the rain evaporates before it hits the ground. They may have worked on that aspect in the last 35 years. I agree with some other posters and am not into the weather conspiracy camp.

I live in one of the heaviest cloud seeding areas in the country. The Grand Mesa has close to 20 seeders around it. last winter these seeders added approximately 30% of the snow fall. With out them we would struggle in the agricultural business.
