Whenever a chance to witness the dance
Of the magical northern lights,
Comes your way, I'm here to say
You'll be awe-struck and filled with delight.
You'll raise your eyes toward darkened skies,
Your mouth will hang open; slack-jaw.
How can this show amid ice and snow
Be reality that you saw?
But it's true and it's square, those lights up there
Are something at which you must stare.
They're blazing for you in a colorful hue
That has nothing with which to compare.
I seen 'em fold in red and gold
And blazon one horizon to other
Until they lie across the sky.
All starlight they did smother.
Nothing I write can describe the light.
No words for the ebbs and the flows.
No description of blues and other hues.
They're beyond mere mortal prose.
