Well, last year I grew some big (to me) pumpkins and wanted to branch out. This year I decided on a few melons. These colossal cantaloupe are huge! The excessive rain this week causes some to start to crack, so I needed to pick them early. I have a few more still growing. We also grow giant cabbage every year on the farm. They are great for sauerkraut and golabki (Polish Cabbage Rolls).

The melon I'm holding is over 22lbs. the one by my foot is over 18lbs. For reference, the "small" melons are standard size Hales Best.

WE have grown big cabbage for years, but they are always impressive. This one we picked yesterday was 19lbs. Plus the 14.5lbs of blackberries grin

Jalstat: we have done it both ways. This last batch was right after a hand injury, and we had the in-laws over. So, we just washed, trimmed the ends, and froze in 1# bags. I will probably can them when I get around to it.

Nice! Make a lot of sauerkraut with cabbage that large.

I don't always carry all my groceries on one arm, but when I do, my keys are usually in the wrong pocket.
