My grandpa ran shot. Had a hot plate that melted lead ingots, then the lead ran through little spouts, that would drip shot into an oil bath. He ran hundreds of pounds

If Cougarw is still on here, he can give you some pointers. He spent some time trying to perfect the process. Not sure how it turned out, but I'm sure he can tell you what NOT to do.

a couple guys i know that shot a lot of trap started making their own shot. It was alot of trial and error. they had a really nice setup with cooling tank and screener and stuff. it takes a lot of time and tinkering to get good at it. dirty lead can be a nightmare to run but they finally got to where they made good shot. Not sure what brand of shot maker they had. One of the guys won the grand american handicap trapshoot in 2010 i believe

I've been kicking around trying it. We're at the grand right now and components are spotty but high.

How hard is it going to be to find lead? Lead is getting pricey. I see a lot of ads for two bucks a pound. That's almost the retail price of shot. unless you have some lying around already I would put a source of lead into your decision making.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Range reclaim. I already do this quite a bit for sinkers and decoy weights.
