I had a handle catch me under the chin once and only once. After that I got better at keeping the mechanism oiled up and watching the pins set before I make the next stroke.

The little SOB knocked me smooth out!

Not much a guy can’t move around with a pair of those jacks. I walked my 12X40 shed onto its foundation using 2 jacks and old fence posts I just finished rebuilding/moving my 12 foot deck back into place.

I used mine often to pull 6' ground rods out when my tractor was down. Well I used it for all kinds of stuff. But it h git bent when a trailer shifted and the jack was on soft dirt. I need to buy another one.

I have 3 high lift farm jacks 2 - 48"
1 60" I lifted a 6,500# loaded hay trailer with one and changed the trailers flat.

Going up was fine...coming down was all at once.

Theyre Awesome

I use one almost everyday working on pivots. Keep ahold of the handle boys or you’ll be missing teeth.

I always called the Handyman jacks too, but where I lived in SD they called them High Lift jacks, I think that might be a brand. I keep a short chain with a hook on mine for pulling fence posts and grabbing other stuff.

When ya need one of them, nothing else will do. A squirt of WD 40 or similar and some respect for the thing and they are a great tool.

I have 4 of the 48" around here. First one I got was from TSC and I think the newer ones are a bit softer steel than the older ones. I am terrible at keeping mine oiled up and cleaned good. Never have issues going up - just getting them to go down. I have learned to stand clear of jack and everything its lifting. One of mine has a piece of 2" angle iron welded on where the lifting notch usually is. It is about 6-8" long and really helps grab more. I have bought 3 of mine for a few dollars apiece at auctions when I see them. Have them scattered around the farm in different buildings as I detest lugging them around. Used one yesterday to change out wheel rake tires and did just as 160 did and rocked it off the jack after done.....

Every time I see one at TSC I am tempted to buy one but then I remember the reconstructive surgery my neighbor had on his face because of one and carelessness.

Honestly, I can't imagine not having some around anymore. With tractors, trailers, atv, utvs, implements, mowers etc and as many wheeled things around here that I am an expert on making flat tires with.....they are worth having the risk. Not to mention all the other uses of pulling posts, grounding rods or even straightening some bent sheet metal parts.
