If you have noticed a decline in the flying insect population where YOU are. What reason can you come up for it?

If there is a bug shortage here, there's a great chance my wife is responsible for it. She has yet to meet an insecticide she wouldn't try. smile

I know a lot of people and places are spraying lawns with 6 week insecticide

I think some mixing it right in the fertilizer mix

I remember years ago going to Disney and thinking , how are there no mosquitoes? someone told us they use lots of spray.

now lots of sprays are the norm in a lot of places.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Here it has to do with the amount of insecticides used on the crops here, but there are still enough bugs.

It's been dry enough to knock down the mosquitoes here, but there doesn't seem to be a shortage of gnats, ticks or black flies.
Until the corn got tall enough to hide them, I was seeing a lot of deer in the open during the day.
I always took that as an indication that the bugs were too bad in the cover.

If anything I’ve noticed an increase. Horseflies, yellow flies, mosquitoes, gnats, you name we have them in abundance. I’d be willing to ship some, but my blood supply and patience wouldn’t allow it. We finally got hot the last couple of weeks and it’s not fun anymore, lol.

We do get our yard treated every year for weeds, ants, and mosquitoes. But that just seems confined to my yard and by no means has impacted the rest of the county. Bats are in great numbers as well. I’m waiting on some pigs to show right now and can see bats everywhere in the thermal.

We do not have nearly as many insects as in my youth. I credit/blame agricultural insecticide for soybeans. Upland bird populations are drastically impacted as well. I saw the first june bug I have seen in many years. Not that many years ago, anything that would hold water and was left outside would be full of dead June bugs. I am sure Danny will corroborate this. I forsee a time very soon when agricultural insecticides are either banned or very heavily restricted.

If you use the windshield test, I will say there are alot less flying insects, I do believe it is from mono-culture farming and insecticides, most notably neonics. In the swamps up north there is little ag and a lot of Mosquitos and biting flies.
