I got back a couple of days ago from a week of boat work and have been semi laid up with a bad case of gout that I get now and then. So between doing the must do chores and resting my foot, I did not get a lot done. The corn is ready to start harvesting and the raccoons found that out last night and ruined half of my stand. So today I have to hobble through the rows and pick what I can and freeze it. I don't have it in me right now to stand and prep the stuff for canning. So after missing the harvest time for my green beans because I was stranded on Hilton Head for a couple of weeks with a busted transmission on my truck and now the corn being decimated by raccoons, things are not going too good right now.
There rant over
Now for some Ibuprofen and then back to it picking corn

Sorry to hear that Scub. Had a year when I ripped and tore muscles in my shoulder and we froze the corn in the husk. We put them in paper grocery bags and right in the freezer they went. It worked good. Hope ya heal up soon ole boy!
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I have froze raw corn without husking or blanching and it worked good for me too. Takes up a lot of freezer space though.

Now for some Ibuprofen and then back to it picking corn If you have a Convenient Care place anywhere close...go and see about getting a steroid injection...usually fixes me up in a matter of hours when mine flares up.

I am going the Ibuprofen and rum route I think. .... Those trash pandas are not long for this world once I can get out and about again. I am going to pick what I can today, Freeze some and can the rest tomorrow, then run the bush hog through the corn patch to get an easier sight picture for an evening coon hunt.
The dogs are busy holding down the sofa and looking after the geese and chickens on this side of the fence. There is a chance that a coon or two will be attracted by the corn in the cart that I have picked and try to get some of it tonight. ... then its game on for the dogs

Good deal. Those coons, as you know, will go for your chooks and geese in a heartbeat if they can. It's great the doggies can take them out immediately as soon as they run them down. I wouldn't want to see either of them get bit, though, either. Almost as fun as shooting them

I don't take meds other than the odd pain killer here and there. I have a pretty healthy diet. But I know that I did not drink enough last week while working in 110F and warmer. In some boats without AC it was above 120F and I put in 10 hour days for 8 straight days. And as I said I should have taken breaks and sit down with a cold water now and then, but I didn't and promptly got the tab handed for it. ... Sometimes its a head game. I pulled an engine on a sailboat that was on land so could not run the AC. I did the job from start to finish without a break as I thought to myself that if I get off that boat and step outside into the nice breeze and just 100F , I would not go back into the heat on board. So ya carry on till its done.

I do feel for you, Scuba. Gout sucks. Had a big flare-up back on January. On crutches for almost 3 wees.
No fun watching everyone do my chores while I sat on my butt.
Hope it quits soon.
