Makes sense it was the only bid though. Guess Bryan got his assn to bid on it. I bet it will be a good one though, maybe not numbers-wise but experience-wise.

No southern association steps forward and volunteers to host it. A national convention takes a lot of work which means a lot of volunteers.

Southern guys still complain its too hot when they come up north for a NTA convention lol.

Im sure the NTA would entertain a bid from a southern state if one of those states wanted to host one.

When a association looks at the work and money outlay to put on a NTA and what NTA puts in and association puts in , it not viable for association.

Sure it is. But it is a huge commitment and a lot of work for those involved.

Yeah...me too. Virginia location is only a 10 hr drive.

30 minutes farther for us then Escanaba and a buck more for the toll roads

That's a big part of it. If you look at the number of volunteers working a convention up north, there's usually more than there are total members in many southern associations.

But even if a southern association did meet the criteria and put in a bid, it's likely they would not be chosen if there was any other option because conventions in the north generate more revenue for the NTA.

It's gonna be interesting going forward as NTA struggles to find places willing to host a convention. They've already amended their policy in regards to the split of the money so that the state receives more than in the past.

They wanted 2025 to be in PA, but the PA assn voted it down. It's likely MTPCA won't be hosting anymore either. I suspect they will soon have to amend their policies again to make it more lucrative for the state if they hope to keep finding states that will host it.

Maybe multiple southern state associations could get together and host a national. Georgia and Tennessee joint- hosted a regional a few years ago in North Ga.
