So yesterday my youngest daughter shows up with a blind baby squirrel. Said the neighbors tom cat was chasing its mom while mom was carrying it across the ground. Black snake in the den maybe? Anyway mom dropped jr and got away. Instead of chasing the cat off daughter picks up jr. She (unknown to me at the time) brings it to my wife to bottle feed. By the time I hear of their plan a couple hours has gone by. I said no give it back to the cat. Those things never end well. So now my name is mud. I think the cat is happy though.

Better for all to let nature take it's course. A blind squirrel would be a heck of a mess to raise and a lot of commitment.

Some individuals use statistics as a drunk man uses lamp-posts — for support rather than for illumination.

My wife has raised quite a few over the years. They all transitioned to the the wild very well except tiny tim, dang that one would fly up your pant leg and end up on your shoulder looking for a handout.Everyone had a different personality.

Made me think of the painter Bob Ross. He was always raising baby squirrels and letting them go.
He'd even put his little friend in a painting now and then

The natural world is a cruel place. Got plenty of squirrels here. I fight over the pecans in my yard every year. I kept envisioning a young squirrel running rampant around the house climbing curtains and driving my bird dog nuts. Game warden writing me a ticket, ( he only lives a couple hundred yards away), and some kid getting bit by an animal that can crack black walnuts by biting them.

the neighbors had one a few years ago
I wasn't the biggest fan but it was interesting
they kept it outside on the porch and it eventually went wild on it's own

Normally I would totally agree but those (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) cats aren't supposed to be in nature.

Neither are dogs. I doubt there is a dog anywhere around me that would not have chased that squirrel and killed her baby.
