For anyone who has the issue, I wish them a recovery or at least a mitigation to it such as Tony1967 has stated above.

I'm sure people and ticks have been interacting with each other in temperate North America for a long time, and for non-Native Americans for 400+ years. I wonder why in the early 21st century all of sudden ticks mutate to do this to people's body systems. I guess its just "evolution" ... wink wink wink

I tend to agree with NonPC. Some things are too weird...like all of the sudden in the last 40 years or less a beneficial gut bacteria (E. coli) developing toxins that can shut down organs and kill you.

I remember reading about it when it was first widely known about 10 years ago or more. I believe many of the first reported cases were on the East Coast.

I have nothing clever to put here.

According to Mayo Clinic’s website it’s supposed to be after time it’ll leave, I’ve read the post’s where it has and some it hasn’t, I hope they can develop a cure/treatment for all allergies I’ve read that there has been some promising research on that front.

It’s a real thing. My wife has it. We used to eat bison twice a week…not any more.

While some tick ranges and densities are changing, I suspect the sudden change here has more to do with increased human population numbers, increased understanding and ability to diagnose it because of modern medicine, not to mention increased allergies and autoimmune issues in the human population. That last issue may also have something to do with modern medicine…maybe our modern food systems too. Not sure.

I have a friend who has been dealing with this for several years now. No red meat, if he eats any he gets sick. Same with dairy products. Alpha gal allergy has been around for a long time. He's one of 3 people I've met that have it. All from Lone Star tick bites down south.

I have a buddy who got it. The only things he can eat are poultry and well cooked ground beef. Anything else makes him violently ill

We've had dog ticks forever, then deer ticks which can be serious, but those lone star ticks are scary, getting them here more and more.

True, but LOTS of new, emerging diseases, pathogens, etc,l, plus the resurgence of many diseases all but eradicated from the US, until massive influx of 3rd worlders...

Probably the biggest cattle rancher in our county can't eat red meat because of a tick bite. It's a real thing.

It is real. A friend of mine can't eat beef or pork any more because of it.

I had it and developed an allergy to eggs. If I ate an egg it would nearly put me in the hospital. But that went away after a couple years. It took longer for the bleeding in my guts to clear up.

Had a lot of crap go wrong from untreated late stage Lymes definitely the worst thing my body has ever gone through. Joints and nerve damage that’s never going to go back to normal. Eye sight even got worse the whole 9 yards. Was in hospital and on a i v antibiotic for days then had to continue taking them at home. Had to go to 3 different specialist for a few years after for special treatments they were trying. Never got a meat allergy thank goodness that’s pretty much all I eat haha! Still get some bad weeks of body aches and what not from it. A lot of damage from a tiny little bugger!

Alpha gal was so new here that hunters/outdoorsman knew about it before the allergy docs did. There was a patient at the clinic I worked for that had it and the allergy doc didnt have a clue. Patient was talking to the the secretary and the secratary, she hunts, recommended testing for alpha gal and that ended up being what it was.

So what you're sayin is catching this tick disease is fatal, unless you want to go vegan and prolong things while wishing you were dead.

I have a friend with Lyme and one with alpha gal. I know another young man with one of the two as well. I wear permethrin on my warm woods clothes and check for ticks. I can't risk going through what I have seen them deal with.

The guys I know eat a lot of chicken, fish, and one said ostrich steaks aren't bad either. Red meat will put them down.

I know this sounds crazy but check itout yourself. I know 4 folks who could not eat red meat and now all 4 of them can. Acupuncture cured them. A doctor in, of all places, New Jersery, has been doing this procedure and now is teaching other acupuntureness.
