The Biden Administration has decided to eliminate federal funding for hunter education and archery programs in public schools. The defunding is due to the administration's interpretation of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act signed in 2022 that included language prohibiting funding from providing "training in the use of a dangerous weapon".

On July 31, the Biden administration confirmed that it is withholding funds for these schools. Obviously, the text of the BSCA has been interpreted in a specific way by the administration because nobody would otherwise describe hunter education as the training in the use of a dangerous weapon.

Senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis addressed this in a letter stating that it was neither the legislative intent of Congress nor a plain reading of the text that leads to the conclusion drawn by the administration

Biden's defunding plan eliminating hunter education and archery programs will affect hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people nationwide.

Bet they still keep taxing the sales of those same items.

Our sportsman club has been funding local schools with their trap shooting and archery program. It looks like we will be their only source of income for supplies.

I wonder if this will include firearms safety programs that we teach as well?

My opinion is the Dims don’t want kids to learn how to use firearms because then the kids will be a threat to them down the road!

Or maybe discouraging these kids from wanting to own a firearm. Discourage them before they get too old and are harder to fool.

It also eliminated all the archery programs from public schools. I believe it was demorat interpretation of the Safe Act.

the article I was reading , the money for these schools was being withheld because they had programs that taught violence aka hunters education and archery in the schools

and as long as the schools continued teaching material banned by the new anti gun bill they would continue withholding funds

Who needs fed money anyway. In Rural America, we teach them to hunt ,fish and trap on our own dime.

Except some kids with single mothers and no close male relatives never get to learn that at home.

This is just flat out disgusting.
