Lost our house in a fire in March. New one is getting spray foamed in the morning. I’ve done a bunch of the work myself. Going to buy a finish nail gun for the inside work. I worked construction in the 80’s and have done a lot of building for myself. (Sheds, barns, remodeling) I have never run a nail gun. My son is building a new house next year, so I’m gonna get one.
- What’s a good brand of finish nail gun? Looking to use inch and a half finish nails for the bulk of its use.
I’ve got a couple air compressors.

Never considered a cordless.
I’ve got other 20 volt Dewalt tools. That may be the way to go.
I assume they cost more?

I just picked up my first battery powered nail gun, it is a 16 gauge unit by Dewalt. It is pretty nice, I would recommend it. Looking at getting an 18 gauge nailer next.

I use Paslodes. They are more expensive and you have to buy fuel and charge the batteries now and then. But not having a hose to drag around makes it all worthwhile to me

Let's go Brandon

Clay. If you have an air compressor, get a Bostitch 18 Guage gun.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Clue me in on the gauge? Does that denote the size of the nail it’s designed for?

Worked construction for 20+ years and tried quite a few different brands but would always go back to Bostitch. Something else to consider is parts availability. Our local lumberyards would service our guns every spring for free at the beginning of the construction season as they where a Bostitch dealer. To me that was worth owning one.

I build custom homes for a living. I have Hiatachi 23ga (very fine nails for miters and miter returns on base). 18 guage (light duty trim) 15 guage (for general base and case). Ive used the battery nailers and they are nice if you only have a few things to do, but you could get all the guns i described for the price of one bat nailer. I also like the 1/4” crown stapler too. Useful for hidden fastening like jambs and such.

Well I don't do it for a living but finishing up my cabin/house. I also have rentals and my son has a twinplex that we re did both units and he lives in one side.
I bought the Porter Cable finish, brad and crown stapler with a pancake compressor many years ago for $200. Nice kit. I have since bought the DeWalt finish,
brad and framing 20V. For what I do I will never go back (Porter Cable set for sale?) I had 28' runs of knotty pine on the porch ceiling, no more cords on a scaffle
or noise of a compressor. I bought everything on FB Marketplace for cheap but new, still more than the air guns though.

Choose your brand they are all good. Dewalt, Milwaukee, Bostich, Rigid, etc. but go cordless for sure. Battery is so much handier.
