A couple of friends have been seeing some local deer with yellow ear tags hanging like you see on a cow or goat. I assume they are Game Commission tags not sure of their purpose. Anyone seen this before and what they are monitoring or why they have taken specimens or some sort of samples from the deer?

Pets so people are less likely to shoot them.

I killed a buck about 15 years ago with a white PGC tag in each ear. You got $100 reward for turning them in. Saw a buck two years ago in archery season with the same tags.

Didn't know of any ongoing trapping efforts but either way I'd contact PGC. Probably broke out of an enclosure and need shot, that's supposedly how CWD got here.

I believe that program is still active and run by Penn State University. They use clover traps and rocket nets to capture deer. They put GPS tracking collars on some and ear tags worth $100.00 on the rest. It's part of a deer monitoring program aimed at estimating the statewide whitetail population.

Also, the PGC will be putting GPS collars on about 600 deer in Bedford and Fulton counties this winter to monitor the spread of CWD.

Eh...wot?

Is there any hog hunters or trappers around in the area. People around here use to catch young deer in hog traps and do that. They also use to castrate the bucks and let them go, there has been some good bucks killed here in velvet in November because they were castrated

I don't know of any high fence operations in my area or captive deer in farms. There may be private farms that I haven't heard about.

The tag appears yellow and pear-shaped with the numbers 094 on the tag.

There’s a lot of Covert things going on in the PGC , it’s best not to ask questions

I was asking for a friend that asked me about it then he showed me the photos. Several albino fawns in the same area for some reason.

I dispise seeing a wild animal that's been touched by a human and let go.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

No need to kill them all.

I have a neighbor that has Deer tagged, He did it when they were young when he raised them. But his were both Does and I would not shoot a deer that tries to Nurse your gloved hand after walking up to you. Just ry to get it to leave you alone when you are trying to grain the Horses. They love that sweet Feed I know that for a fact.

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.
