Making some pemmican. I know dried meat and tallow, but what else does everyone like to add to theirs. I know people add fruit. Can you add any veggies or nuts that are dried down as well?

Any dried fruit will work.

Native Americans ( only ones that deserve that honor ) used choke cherries from what I've read , pits and all pounded into a mash and added it to their pemmican .

Mountain huckleberries were also a favorite thing to add. That would have been the mountain tribes that had access to them.

I recently read that the pemmican that had fruit was considered the best and often reserved for warriors and chiefs.
