Picked up a Poulan pro gas hedge trimmer, guy said he couldn't keep it running. Thought I'd take a chance, looked at it turned the kill switch to on and it runs great! $10

Nice! You never know where ya gonna find a deal.A couple weeks ago somebody was throwing out 3 circular saws,a Porter Cable,a Rockwell, and a Fairbanks Ward.I picked up the Ward and figured it probably didn't work and when I got home I plugged it in and it didnt. It sat in my truck for a few days and then I thought maybe the brushes were bad, went to the hardware store, bought a couple of them and put them in.That early 1950's saw ran like it was brand new!Went back for the other two,guy in charge said he threw them in the metals bin.Never heard of Fairbanks Ward power tools but it looks to be pretty solid.

Helped my brother in law drop a tree for a friend of his.The guy wanted to help us with the clean up work and came out with a bran new smaller Stihl Chain Saw.He was struggling with it saying this things bran new and it don't cut at all.I went and looked and told him I can fix that for ya.I flipped the chain around(it was on backwards) and told him try that.LOL,,he was happy that it wasn't a junk saw.

my son picked up a 8 1/4 circular saw the other day for 3 bucks at a rummage sale

old Skill 565

needs a new blade but cutting 4x5 pallet wood from all 4 sides then finishing with the hand saw was getting real old on a project he was doing at the time.

Bought a poulan weed wacker 14 years ago from walmart and it takes about 4 pulls every spring then 1 or 2 the rest of the summer. My old man ran a poulan chainsaw for 20 years til the new guy who replaced him took one look at it and tossed it. Wasnt pretty but he never had trouble with it.

The older Poulans were fine saws. They would cut with any Stihl or Husky back in the day.

You did good!!

Some years back I got a brand-new Poulin weed eater used one day. They said it doesn't run and they threw it away. I brought it home and all that was wrond with it was the spark arrestor. I removed it still have it to this day and that was ~14 years ago. Lol
