We've had a few bad ones this year in NWT. Houses lost and town evacuated. Inuvik is currently on evacuation alert. We've had a few fires in the region so the smoke has been bad lately. Woke up to ashes on my truck this morning. Those came from a fire that has moved 7km closer to town since last night. It's now less than 10km from town our wind is currently blowing directly from the fire to town. Last I heard is crews were putting in fire breaks and preparing for the event of the fire reaching town. Hopefully the wind switches and we get some rain asap. Drought conditions and higher than average temperature have sure dried out the delta this summer

When the towns burnt here back in the day people survived by going out into the lakes.

Stay safe Ryan. We had the same situation here. Fire was about 6km away. I don't think I've ever seen the bush so dry. Finally got some rain here but you'd hardly know it.

Be on guard cause as you have seen fire can really travel fast in a wind. Its impossible to stop if its moving fast.
