How often should you rebait or reapply lure to your coyote sets?

Whenever a new set is made.

Unless there was a heavy rain a rarely do. I tried to do more to protect the lure/bait though. Like using portable pocket, sets like the pipe dream set, and use sheep’s wool when possible.

My record was like 83 days from luring to catch. Step down dirt hole that's was under water at least twice. No lure holder, just smeared lure on top of hole.

Talked to one trapper this spring that caught a couple coyotes on sets that got snowed in under a several feet of snow for over a 100 days and caught after the snow all melted.

Just food for thought

Nothing like the above, but I caught one about 3.5 weeks after setting. The hole had collapsed after we had 6-8” of rain.

I only rebait if it’s a remake. Otherwise it sets.

It really depends on the bait/lure being used. A quality materiel may not need reapplied for a month or more, where a lesser material may be 2 weeks.

More important is a well constructed set that can withstood the elements and still stay functional without being messed with. In addition being on location. If they are present, they will smell it.
