Coonman, I'm assuming you are running up and down ditch banks being in Iowa. I would shy from the neoprene, go with a light weight repairable wader,.easily able to patch. I like aquaseal, has worked well for me in the past. Rich Kasper mentioned a product ,.I think called NP1 but not sure.
I used this on the soles of boot as I had a tendency of stomping t-bars down,.I actually drilled a hole and filled with such,.worked out!
Consider one lucky if getting by with only rwo pair a year.

Buck skin makes a good patch,
It stretches. I've patched up to one foot tears whith buch skin. The rough side should be the glue surface.

I have had VERY good luck wearing or putting an old pair of jeans OVER my waders. They take the brunt of the wear and abuse and save the wader underneath.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Try a can of flex seal. Just spray it on and go.

I was at Lowes yesterday pick up few items . Notice flex seal tape is $57 for roll . I bought it maybe 5 years ago at $15 a roll an thought high . It don't work like it say back then. Just bought it once . Maybe seal some things but iffy if permanent, inflated prices

I go through a new pair of waders every 2 to 4years when they get too worn out to keep repairing and use them as a spare. I use clear silicone caulk for patching seams and if there is a bigger hole I silicone over a piece of flex seal tape. One thing I learned is never to have the floor vent in your vehicle blowing hot air on your feet as it will make the seams come apart. Good luck Coonman!

Those sound like junk to me . Good boots are not cheap and cheap boots are not good words to live by on almost all products and this was my dad’s saying and he grew up through the depression.

That sounds to me like you're not allowing the area where the hole is to dry out completely or not prepping the area properly before you apply the sealant. Also be sure it is cured before using them again.

Dave, equipment wears out and I usually buy a new pair of waders every year and keep the older patched pair as a backup. Beaver trapping and poking holes in your waders goes hand in hand around here. It's just the cost of doing business, once you accept that you'll sleep better.

Yes, poking holes in waders is expected as they see some hard use. But usually those type of holes can usually be repaired. What's frustrating is how quickly relatively new waders just wear out, developing cracks where the rubber/vinal flexes. Those don't take a patch well as the cracking just continues around the patch. Does anyone know of a quality wader where the boot part lasts more than a year or two?
