My son was playing around with his new 3d printer, and he made this. That machine can make all kinds of stuff out of plastic!!

That's pretty neat. How strong is the material? And how long did it take the printer to make it?

He made it in parts. Then he put it together! He has a cheep machine. So it goes slow. Each part took about two to 5 hours. You can get deferent types of plastic for what you are making. It’s all in the program. He draws it out on the computer in cad. Then saves it to a sd card, then puts the card into the printer and walks away. He checks on it once in a while. Why it’s working. It’s really cool if you like making things!

Have seen those on sale on ebay also.

We use them at work, think we are on the third or fourth update now. Great for prototyping parts, checking fit, etc. A lot of library's in the area have them and you can use them for the cost of the material, something to do with "maker" groups. Very neat!

The public library, in the nearest small city, had a 3D printer, that anyone can use. They charge 5 cents a gram for the plastic. Diane has a bunch of projects she wants to make including a heddle for a loom.
