Just dropped my boy off to college today. Won’t lie it’s been a pretty emotional day for me and his momma. He has been my constant companion since day one. Hard for dad to let go, but it’s time from him to chase his dream.

Already have his flight booked home for the week of thanksgiving. Told me I had better save him and big buck. Said I would. Now time to see a lot of Kansas back to WV.

I feel you, this is the last night we are all here at home. My oldest son leaves tomorrow for college. Definitely isn’t easy.

Enjoy it, tomorrow won’t be the same. Still have about 22 hours home to process it. But seeing his empty room. Not having him to go and do with. Will be hard on Ol dad. But just trust in what you have gave him this far and hope that it’s enough.

I take it he is going to Colorado State? What is he majoring in?

I hope your son has a great and productive time at college. In some years, you'll hopefully have some grandchildren to spoil.

Got to be tough on ol'dad. We are very fortunate our boy chose a college just 15 min from home so he's staying here. His first classes start Monday.

Little emotional for sure but I’m sure your very proud of him and he’s been raised right and told you to save a big buck for him so he’s got his priorities right until he starts chasing those 2 legged does in college lol

Well there was a few of those “does” that caught his eye. Was super helpful moving in. Heading home and coming back along I70. Anything I need to stop and see along the way?

I’m just off I70 in the Junction City/Manhattan area. If you need a place to stretch your legs on your way through pm me. Best I can offer for sightseeing is prairie and buffalo. I, like your son, work in the realm of ecology. If he ever travels home by car, the offer for a resting place goes for him too. Happy to talk with him about working in this field.

Good school. Yes, it's tough.

Focus on all of the cool things he is going to accomplish. It helps.

Thank you for the invite. Might have to take you up on it the next trip. She made us a new route, seeing a little bit of Wyoming and a lot Nebraska. Going along 80 now. Lots more water here than I pictured. Lots of corn as well.

It was tough on me to loose my constant companion / never seen a body of water he didn't want to fish son to college. That being said, I did make it in the end and watching him spread his wings and live his own dream is very satisfying for a parent.

Its amazing to see how much they grow and develop while in college.

Chasing a dream is what they call it now? not tail?

Lol. For what it cost now. I hope it’s the dream and not the tail. He made up his mind in the 7th grade this is what we wanted to do and where he was going. So it’s been his dream. I know it’s selfish, but wish his dream was closer to home. On the ride back. Have caught myself asking if he seen this or that. Hope he is doing better than me.
