I've got a 13 year old Frigidaire washer that's been giving me troubles. Pretty sure the door lock is going out, which is easy enough to fix. But, I get other error codes as well.

So, the question is, do I even mess with this thing? Should I just replace it?

I'm leaning towards replacement.

Replace it with a Whirlpool
And buy a top load, they last longer and don't smell of mold and mildew

My Frigidaire front load was 2 machines ago , main bearing goes out , wouldn't expect yours has a lot of time left on that and it costs more than a new one if you pay the repair man parts and labor.

so if you can buy the part online and put a new lock in it for sub 100 dollars yourself and get more life , do it , if it is going to cost >150 put it at a new machine a top loading speed queen.

I kept track and for a while when I got this speed queen top load commercial and we averaged about 12-14 loads a week for laundry so the 2 front load machines I had went 6-7 years each before main bearings went in both.

those main bearings are basically a sealed hub unit on a car and around 160K give or take 20K you need new ones.

Get a repair estimate and see if it's worth it. I currently have a 29 year old Sears Kenmore washing machine that's still going strong. I use it twice a week.

The Frigidaire dryer definitely has a bearing going. From the sounds of things, I'm guessing the washer has a bearing going too.

I finally got the washer working after unplugging power and doing a factory reset. I'm going to do a couple loads and see what happens, but I think it's time for a replacement.

We had a similar problem; too many things going wrong. Replaced it with a top loading Maytag. Awesome machine!

My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

keep putting belts on it till the transmission goes then look for another top loader

they sell you on the idea of how much water and soap you save and how it is easier on cloths

what you get is a door gasket to clean every few loads or if you use it twice a week clean every load and a cycle that takes twice as long to use a little less water and a little less soap.

they get you more money for a machine that lasts half as long and dies a bearing failure if the electronics don't go out first.

it is a lot like global warming , if they sell you a washer to save the environment to get you to stop using your old machine that would last 20+ years then they sell you 2x as many machines in a lifetime

but how is building shipping and replacing machines better for the environment than a little water use. it isn't but they needed to sell more machines people aren't reproducing like they were and expanding the population like the were.

My wife will not have a front load washer. Says they smell bad and take forever to run load of clothes.

I am personally inexperienced on this topic.

The bad thing about getting a new one is that the new one will only last you 3 years with junk they are building today

Error code e21. Problem with draining.

Took the hoses off the pump and cleaned the trap. I think I found my problem.

Crazy how the pennies eroded. [Linked Image]

Fix it if not too much!! The new ones are crap and if you get 6-7 years out of it they say. “Hey, you did real good!”.
