Are these coral tipped mushrooms? They are growing on a dead aspen log.

My best id is comb tooth mushroom. However, please don't eat any mushrooms on my advice!

Hericium coralloides. It's said to be edible and good but I've never found one without all sorts of debris and bugs tangled in the spines and nearly impossible to wash out... and IMHO it smells funny. There are better edible fungi out there smile

Thank you Tatiana. I am impressed with the texture when sautéed. As delicate as it looks it not tough but almost the consistency of fried clams. As far as taste, I thought that it was almost tasteless.

Agreed with Tatiana,,, I have eaten them,,, although they are considered edible,,, I found them bitter and not worth bringing home

They look spectacular, remind me of frost growing on a pane of glass
